I have never thought of Donald Trump as smart — that he might see this recipe and cleverly follow it — but rather that he was a “useful idiot” for forces such as Russia that would like to destroy America. It’s one or the other. What do you think or believe?
I've seen this quote before but had forgotten it was Hamilton. It describes Trump very well. Thank you for the reminder. I think both are true. Trump is not stupid, in fact he is very smart, but his intentions are not good ones. We make a mistake and we underestimate the enormous damage he could do by thinking he lacks intelligence. Of course he is being aided in very intelligent and dangerous ways by the Russian government too, because they are very smart and dangerous too and they recognize the damage Trump can do and is doing to their greatest rival. Most smart authoritarians use the divide and conquer strategy.
An intelligent person is not necessarily wise. I worried when, as president, he admired and communicated with the despots of the world. And years ago he was fascinated with Hitler.
